  1. Who doesn't like a party? Well, Whitehouse Farm Centre in Northumberland is planning a biggie this weekend - to which everyone is invited - in celebration of its 20th anniversary and as a thank-you to visitors for the two decades of support it has enjoyed in that time. That's just one of the weekend events coming up and there are plenty more ideas for children in and around Newcastle - which no doubt will please parents who face the prospect each week of filling two days with enough activities to keep young ones occupied. The good news is that's there's always plenty happening around Newcastle and the North East which can fill a gap if you're struggling to think up something different to do. To help you out, we've come up with a selection of ideas to occupy lively young minds and burn off all that excess energy while ensuring parents don't get bored either. Here's our top five pick of activities taking place around the region this Saturday and Sunday. Celebrations will get underway at the visitor attraction near Morpeth, Northumberland, from Saturday morning as it celebrates its 20th birthday with a party invitation to all.
