Mozart Piano Trio in G major K.496
Shostakovich Piano Trio Op. 67 No 2 in E minor
Schubert Piano Trio No 1 in B flat major D.898

Season and other ticket details : http://www.morpeth-musoc.org.uk/subscriptions.htm

The Busch trio is named after the legendary German violinist, Adolf Busch, whose 1783 Guadagnini violin is played by violinist Mathieu van Belen. The trio is frequently featured at Europe’s leading concert houses including London’s Wigmore Hall and is currently trio in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Brussels.

Sparkling Mozart begins our programme followed by the haunting Shostakovich trio, using Jewish folk music themes in tribute to the victims of the Holocaust.

The concert concludes with a work, about which, Schumann said ‘One glance at Schubert’s Trio and the troubles of our human existence disappear and all the world is fresh and bright again.'

‘Beyond the players’ individual gifts, what impressed most was the group’s effortless musicianship and unity
of thought and attack.’ - The Times
