Haydn Quartet Op. 20 No 4
Bartók Quartet No 4
Mendelssohn Quartet Op. 80

Season and single tickets available : http://www.morpeth-musoc.org.uk/subscriptions.htm

Having played for us in 2009, the Carducci Quartet makes a welcome return as an established star ensemble in the world of chamber music. Schubert’s ‘Death and the Maiden’ was the highlight of a wonderful concert on their last visit. In the meantime, the Carducci’s activities have included performing the entire Shostakovich string quartet cycle in one day, commissioning new works and recording arrangements of Jethro Tull’s greatest hits!

Our evening will open with a typical Haydn quartet followed by the contrasting Bartók. The eloquent Mendelssohn quartet was the composer’s last complete major work, inspired by the loss of his sister Fanny
